We are pleased to welcome Sam Feldman to the CAPE team as our US Business Development Manager. Sam is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and was a former Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Atlanta Braves.
Let’s hear more about Sam.
Tell us about your background
I received my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Penn State University, during which time I also worked with the volleyball team. At University of Georgia, I received my MS in Exercise Science where I blended the Clinical Exercise Physiology focus with the Strength, Conditioning, and Fitness focus.
While at UGA I was able to work with numerous Olympic sports teams as a Strength and Conditioning intern. From there I went to Cressey Sports Performance where I was able to learn more about the professional and private sectors in S&C.
With the Atlanta Braves, I took a role in helping develop our speed and conditioning programming Throughout my time with the Braves, I worked primarily with rookie level affiliates and helped teach our younger players strength and conditioning from an initial level.
Recently, I’ve rediscovered a passion for motor sports and now have worked with and continue to work with race car drivers of all levels and series.
What are your sporting interests?
I enjoy watching motorsport racing and football (the American version) primarily, and playoff games as well throughout most sports. Having played tennis, I still try to watch tennis majors when they are on. I enjoy watching Basketball and make time to catch some Dallas Mavericks games.
What are your thoughts on compression for athlete recovery?
I think anything that helps recovery and is easy to access and use is a great tool to add to the toolbox. Compression garments are just that and improved recovery means improved performance. What’s not to like?
What do you think makes CAPE the best compression?
CAPE offer elite athletes the best compression from the aerospace and medical industries. CAPE compression garments have been designed based on years of research at NASA and MIT by CAPE founder and CEO Dr James Waldie. Astronauts used his compression suits on the International Space Station!
CAPE are professional FDA medical grade compression garments. Unlike other compression brands which are sized generically, CAPE garments are custom fitted to each athlete based on a 3D scan. No two garments are ever the same! This is especially important for elite athletes who are not typical shapes and sizes. With CAPE every individual athlete receives accurate compression for greater physiological benefits such as 10% faster recovery.
CAPE use premium quality European fabrics and are made in the USA. CAPE are the chosen compression brand of athletes in the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA as well as Olympic Sports. CAPE provide professional compression for professional athletes.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role with CAPE?
I look forward to connecting with open-minded practitioners who want to help improve their teams in all possible ways. I’m excited to be a part of the CAPE team and work alongside individuals who have taken compression research from the aerospace industry and applied it to elite sport. I also look forward to offering more elite athletes the opportunity to own CAPE custom fit medical grade compression.
